The 'baumpilz' :-)

For all who do not know what this is ... here is a big one which lives on the Schauenberg. Interesting as it's top feels and looks like wood.

More single trail fun ...

From Huggenberg down to Neubrunn on the bike on a former hiking trail

And then between the Hulftegg and the Hirzegg

Up to the snow ...

Looking to the south it seems that the snow is gone back up to the mountains. Ok - time to take the mountain bike and try it out ....

What a surprise! Not far away on the Vorder Höhi near Amden there is still snow on the street.

Fairy tail on single trail

Going down from Schauenberg to Zell is a nice single trail. It passes a timber house in the middle of the wood.

And then goes down some stairs to a waterfall.

A year for mountain bikers and all people how enjoy the countryside in and around Huggenberg. This stitched picture shows Girenbad.

Even more snow ...

This year there is a lot of snow ... and for some reason the weekends are usually more or less sunny. Great to go snow shoe walking!

Saturday, 21 February 2009

cross country ski race ...

The cross country ski race took place today.

The snow is still great for snow shoe walking!

Sunday, 15 February 2009

Snow shoe walking ...

I was just two hours outside with my snow shoes ... what a nice day!

The next generation windows ....

Our cat loves windows. Windows does not even need a mouse to be attractive ... it is sufficient to have a birdhouse just outside in front of it.

And if you have some spare time why do you not grab your cross country ski, make a trip to the beautiful cross-country ski tracks in Huggenberg and enjoy the countryside.

Snow!

Everything is coated with snow. Some do not like this.

Others like it a lot! Cross country skiing is open.

The trail is made.

Sunday, 25 January 2009

Ice rivers ...

Another Sunday with a lot of sun. A lot of people are visiting the beautiful coutryside around Huggenberg.

Sun and rain have changed snow to ice. Ice rivers flow down the ridges near Geretswil.

Above the sea of fog

Two days of sun, fun and nothing to do above the fog. Not too many people seem to know the location just a few minutes away from Winterthur.

Panoramic Sight Schauenberg August 2008

Just a short walk away is the Schauenberg. The panoramic sight at the top is beautiful. An informative sign (visible on the right of the picture) explains the scenery ranging from the Austrian Alps to the mountains in the west of Switzerland to visitors.

2008 is gone ...

Happy new year to all! 2009 started with snow, some sun followed by fog - all looks like covered with sugar.

2008, August 1st

August 1st is the Swiss national day. The one in 2008 was the first in Huggenberg. We just move there a few weeks ago.

In the morning there was a nice rainbow in the west of our house. Just from our kitchen window!
